| The final par 5 on the Black plays as a
slight dog-leg right. A well-hit tee shot is a definite plus, preferably
skirting the large tree on the right side of the fairway, in order
to set up an easier second.
The second shot
is made infinitely more difficult by a well-placed fairway bunker in the landing area,
which pinches in the fairway to a meagre 15 yards at the 150 yard marker. To carry the
bunker, and reach the ideal area for the approach shot, requires a pipe-straight second
shot of well over 200 yards, with the large bunker on the left, and rough and trees
looming on the right.
From there, the re-designed bunker complex, set some 30 yards short of the putting
surface, prevents the player seeing the base of the pin. The green is medium-sized with a
small rise around halfway creating a narrow rear shelf. Any approach shot missed right
falls off down a steep slope into trees, although the restored right greenside bunker may
catch some stray shots. |
