| The beautiful subtlety of the
design of the 5th hole is much more evident when
viewed from this angle. Essentially, both the
tee and green are set at matching offsets to the
straight fairway line, forcing the player to be
able to work the ball both ways to deal with the
hole best. However, the preferred fade from the
tee lengthens the second shot, and the drawn ball
into the green comes in lower and hotter,
reducing the chance of holding the small, firm
putting surface. Take par every time and move on.
